Writing a CV

Typically, CVs fall into one of two categories:

  • The ‘back of an envelope CV.’  This is too brief, offering the reader very little information relevant to the vacancy.  The reader is left guessing.
  • The ‘life history CV.’  This is too long, swamping the reader with information.  The reader rapidly loses interest.

Potential employers are human and usually working under pressure.  They want to read something which quickly identifies why  you should be invited for interview.  I will work with you to review your knowledge, skills and work experience and to produce a concise, positive CV which works  for you, not against you.   You will then have an impressive ‘personal sales document’ which will stand out from the rest.

I prefer to meet clients if writing a CV from scratch, but this is not essential.  Improvements to existing CVs can be undertaken by phone and email.
